Dr. Shafi donates arrears of his salary to purchase medicines for hospitalsDr. Shihabdeen Mohamed Shafi, the doctor at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital has decided to donate arrears of his salary amounting over Rs. 2.67 million for the purchase of essential medicines for hospitals.
Dr. Shafi who was on compulsory leave on charges of performing infertility surgery, has received a cheque of over Rs. 2.67 million salary arrears from the Health Ministry last week.
The salary arrears include the basic salary, interim allowance, cost of living, and allowance in lieu of pension for the period of compulsory leave imposed on Dr. Sihabdeen.
Dr. Shafi who was employed at the Kurunegala teaching hospital was arrested on May 25th, 2019, on charges of performing infertility surgery.

කොවිඩ් -19 වයිරසය ආසාදනය වී මියයන පුද්ගලයින්ගේ සිරුරු අනිවාර්යයෙන් ආදාහනය කිරීමේ ප්රතිපත්තිය අවසන් කරන ලෙස එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවිධානයේ මානව හිමිකම් පිළිබඳ විශේෂඥයින් සිව්දෙනෙකු ශ්රී ලංකා රජයෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කර ඇත.
එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සංවිධානයේ මානව හිමිකම් පිළිබඳ විශේෂ නියෝජිතයින් වන අහමඩ් ශහීඩ්, ෆර්නැන්ඩ් ඩී වැරෙන්නස්, ක්ලෙමන්ට් නයලෙට්සොස්සි වූලේ සහ ලැලෙන්ග් මොෆෝකෙන්ග් මෙම ඉල්ලීම සිදු කර ඇත.

කොරෝනා ආසාදිත මෘතදේහ සියල්ලම ආදාහනය කිරීමේ ශ්රී ලංකා රජයේ තීරණය හෙළා දකින බවත් , කොවිඩ් හේතුවෙන් මිය ගිය අයගේ මෘත දේහ ශ්රී ලංකාව තුළ ඒ ආකාරයෙන් ආදාහනය අනිවාර්ය කිරීමෙන් ජාතීන් අතර සුහදත්වයට බාධාවක් ඇතිවීම මෙන්ම එය මානව හිමිකම් කඩ කිරීමක් ද වන බවයි එම නිවේදනයේ සඳහන් වේ.
ඇතැම් අවස්ථාවලදී වාර්තා වල නිරවද්යතාව තහවුරු කිරීමට පවා කාලයක් ඉතිරි නොකර අදාළ ආදාහන කටයුතු සිදුකිරීම් ගැනද මෙම කමිටුව අවධානය යොමුකර ඇත.
එලෙස කොරෝනා වයිරසයෙන් මියයන පුද්ගලයන්ගේ දේහයන් සියල්ල ආදාහනය නතර කරන ලෙස රජයෙන් දැඩිව ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ යැයිද එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ මානව හිමිකම් විශේෂඥ කණ්ඩායම නිකුත් කළ නිවේදනයේ වැඩිදුරටත් දැක්වේ.
